Dr. Richard H. Hewitt, DVM

Dr. Hewitt, "Doc," was born and raised in Alabama where he spent his childhood working on farms and cooking doughnuts in the family doughnut shop. He graduated from Auburn University in 1980 and completed an internship in Hickory, NC. On April 1, 1983, Dr. Hewitt purchased Ridgefield Animal Hospital and began his practice here in Morristown, TN.

When he is not at work, Dr. Hewitt enjoys being in the outdoors. He makes time for backpacking, snow skiing, whitewater paddling, running, climbing, caving, and golf.

Dr. Hewitt is also a Christian and actively involved in his church, Manley Baptist Church, where he has been in attendance for over 20 years.
Although he truly enjoys being a veterinarian, he also looks forward to going home at the end of the day to his family and a chubby calico with no name.
